International Brain Laboratory Accepting Applications for New Collaborative Projects

The International Brain Lab (IBL), a Simons Foundation-supported consortium of 22 independent academic labs across six countries, seeks new partners in its work to uncover how the brain behaves when making decisions. These new partners will receive support from the effort’s central core of scientific engineers, the IBL Core, to leverage IBL’s data, tools and protocols to undertake large-scale projects.
This new stage of the IBL builds on a string of scientific breakthroughs by the collaboration. Recently, the IBL published two pioneering papers in Nature on creating a brain-wide map of neural activity in the mouse brain during decision-making and on how the brain represents prior information during decision-making. Other projects made possible by the IBL have similarly expanded our understanding of the brain.
Applicants must submit a two-page project description by November 1. Projects should be ready to begin work with the IBL by summer 2026. For more information, please read the complete list of selection criteria and the application FAQs.
