AGN feedback and galaxy formation

“Feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) is routinely invoked to cure some of the long-standing issues of the formation of massive galaxies.
I will show by means of hydrodynamical simulations how it allows for the formation of massive ellipticals. I will also discuss why the growth of black holes and AGN feedback is hindered in low-mass galaxies. And finally I will show results on the efficiency of radiatively-driven AGN winds and how they couple to the interstellar medium.”
