Microtubule Biophysics with Multi-Scale Molecular Simulations: Microtubules are essential cellular structures involved in diverse biological processes, including structural support, intracellular transport, and cell division. However, their large size and complex dynamics present significant computational challenges for detailed microscopic simulations. My research addresses these challenges by integrating bottom-up and top-down coarse-grained modeling approaches, combining atomistic molecular dynamics simulations with advanced coarse-grained methods and emerging machine learning techniques. This integrative strategy bridges length scales effectively, balancing computational efficiency with molecular-level accuracy. In this presentation, I will discuss our current progress in developing and applying these multiscale models to investigate cellular-scale phenomena, such as spindle dynamics and axonal transport, and outline future directions for refining these methodologies and exploring broader biophysical questions.
