Title: Cinematic Scientific Visualization: Where Computational Science Meets Hollywood Filmmaking

Abstract: Cinematic scientific visualizations make science accessible and exciting to broad audiences, ages 8-80, by utilizing storytelling and design techniques borrowed from the film industry. These visualizations can be seen in museums, IMAX films, immersive planetarium dome theaters, and on social media, where they reach millions of people around the world. In this talk, learn about the technical, design, and communication challenges in creating this type of work.
