Sonification is rapidly gaining interest for its use in quantitative research, both as an accessibility tool for the blind and low vision (BLV) community and as a tool for uncovering trends and signatures that more traditional analysis methods are unable to. Despite this growth, there is little communication between groups working to establish sonification as a research tool.

The aim of this workshop is to highlight sonification as a research tool by bringing together practitioners for an interdisciplinary meeting focused on sonification practices, standardization, and efficacy. Attendees will have the chance to present their own research, while also participating in semi-structured conversations aimed at exchanging technical knowledge for quantifying efficacy. This workshop aims to bring together the community of researchers who are currently using or developing sonification schemes in their research (or are just starting on the journey). While the scientific expertise of the organising committee is rooted in astrophysics, researchers in other quantitative domains are encouraged to apply.

Participants will be selected based on responses to the application form, with special attention given to creating a workshop with a balanced mixture of career stages and scientific interests. This workshop will be fully accessible, including folks along the blind-to-sighted spectrum. Please contact the organizers at [email protected] with any questions.
