Scialog: Quantum Matter and Information
Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA)
RCSA is a private foundation that advances early-stage, high-potential, basic scientific research by providing catalytic funding for innovative research and the development of academic scientists. RCSA created and manages a program called Scialog®, which funds research and facilitates intensive dialogue and community building through focused meetings. These meetings are intended to advance human knowledge by building and strengthening a community of scientists who, across disciplines and sectors, may obtain true scientific breakthroughs.
RCSA and the Simons Foundation have decided to work together to support cutting-edge contemporary quantum science, which offers the promise of transformational technologies. A series of three annual Scialog meetings, entitled Scialog: Quantum Matter and Information, will be held starting in the fall of 2025, focused on this area of research. These meetings will address the need for breakthroughs in novel quantum materials, precision measurement, sensing, and quantum information. A deeper understanding of quantum coherence, entanglement, and the transition from quantum to classical behaviors is essential for progress in quantum theory, simulations, and experimental design.
This Scialog seeks to promote broader interactions among different sectors of the quantum science community and will facilitate connections among early career researchers from a wide cross section of academic disciplines. Scialog will underscore the importance of this area of research, will support the missions of both organizations and, it is expected, will have a greater impact on the field than would be possible if the organizations supported the field separately.
The foundation will provide grant funding to RCSA to support three Scialog fellows each year for three years.
