Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need approval from the grants office at my institution to submit my application?
With the exception of the Simons Symposia application, the Simons Foundation requires the signature of a signing official in your institution’s sponsored projects or equivalent office to submit an application.
- I cannot find the Submit button. Where is it?
If the submission deadline has not passed, use the validate button to check for missing requirements. If the deadline has passed, you will not be able to submit your proposal. The foundation reviews requests for extensions on a case-by-case basis.
- Will the Simons Foundation accept the signing official’s digital signature on the signature page?
Yes, that is acceptable.
- Can you verify that my application was received?
Due to the volume of applications, it is not possible for the foundation to verify, via email or phone, that an application was received. After successful submission, the application will be listed within the Manage Proposals tab, under the In Progress tab with the status Submitted. Additionally, a confirmation email is sent to the applicant upon submission. Please be sure that spam filters allow emails from email@example.com — this is also important for the receipt of notifications about the status of an application.
