Alexandre Streicher is a joint postdoc between the Institute for Advanced Study and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Born in northern Virginia, he began his doctoral work with Joseph Polchinski at the University of California, Santa Barbara and finished his Ph.D. under the supervision of Stephen Shenker at Stanford. His core interests lie in quantum gravity, holography and quantum chaos. He is fascinated by dynamical phenomena and is pursuing a general understanding of how internal degrees of freedom conspire to behave gravitationally. So far, he has explicitly uncovered emergent patterns of large N operator dynamics, where the quantum motion throughout the internal degrees of freedom actually matches that of particles falling into black holes.
