Andrew Gelman received his Ph.D. in statistics from Harvard University in 1990. His books include Bayesian Data AnalysisTeaching Statistics: A Bag of TricksA Quantitative Tour of the Social Sciences; and Red State, Blue State, Rich State, Poor State: Why Americans Vote the Way They Do. He is currently professor of statistics and political science, as well as director of the Applied Statistics Center, at Columbia University.
