Brian Soden, Ph.D.

Professor, Atmospheric Science, University of Miami

Brian Soden is a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Miami and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago. He specializes in the use of satellite observations to test and improve computer simulations of Earth’s climate. Soden is a fellow of the American Meteorological Society and American Geophysical Union, and he served as a lead author of the 2007 and 2013 reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Other honors include the American Meteorological Society’s Henry G. Houghton Award, the National Space Club’s David S. Johnson Award, and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency’s H.E. Reid Award and Lawrence Award.
