Caitlin McCandler, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, ICC, Flatiron Institute

Caitlin McCandler joined the Initiative for Computational Catalysis (ICC) as a Flatiron Research Fellow in September 2024. Caitlin is interested in the surface stabilization of catalytically active nanoclusters and nanoparticles, and she uses DFT and machine-learned interatomic potentials to investigate these systems. She earned her Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and her B.S. from MIT, both in materials science and engineering. Caitlin received a Kavli Energy NanoScience Institute (ENSI) fellowship and a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) fellowship to complete her graduate studies.
