Carrie Filion, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, Nearby Universe, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Carrie Filion joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) as a Flatiron Research Fellow in September, 2024. Carrie is interested in using both dynamical simulations and observations of stars in nearby galaxies to learn more about galaxy formation and evolution. She is also interested in using sonification both as a novel way to present and analyze data and as a mechanism for making astronomy more accessible to the blind and low-vision community. Carrie earned her Ph.D. in 2024 from Johns Hopkins University where she was advised by Professor Rosemary F.G. Wyse. Prior to her graduate studies, she earned her B.A. in physics at Bryn Mawr College.
