Cynthia F. Moss is professor of psychological and brain sciences at Johns Hopkins University and holds joint appointments in the departments of neuroscience and mechanical engineering and the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute. She received a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Ph.D. from Brown University. Her research employs synchronized high-speed infrared stereo video, ultrasound microphone array, and multichannel neural recordings to investigate brain circuit dynamics in echolocating bats engaged in natural tasks.

Moss is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award, James McKeen Cattell Award, William and Christine Hartmann Prize in Auditory Neuroscience, National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award in Science and Engineering, and the Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Award. She is currently president of the International Society for Neuroethology and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Acoustical Society of America and the International Society for Neuroethology.
