Daniel Lecoanet, Ph.D.

Research Scientist, Stars and Plasma Astrophysics, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Daniel Lecoanet joined the CCA as a Research Scientist in 2026. Before joining CCA he was an Assistant Professor of Engineering Science and Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University. He is an expert in astrophysical fluid dynamics, mostly applied to stellar interiors. He is a core developer of the Dedalus pseudo-spectral code. Daniel received his PhD from UC-Berkeley in 2016.
