Gilles Francfort, Ph.D.

Research Scientist, CCB, Flatiron Institute

Gilles Francfort joined the Flatiron Institute in January 2023 as a research scientist in the Center for Computational Biology. His research interests include the calculus of variations, solid mechanics and applied analysis. Prior to joining the Flatiron Institute, Francfort was a professor of mathematics at Université Sorbonne Paris-Nord. He obtained his Ph.D. at Stanford University. Francfort is a recipient of the French Academy of Science’s Prix Thématique Paul Doistau-Emile Blutet and is a former senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
