Kai Lehman

Research Analyst, CCA, Flatiron Institute

Kai is a 2026 Predoctoral Researcher at Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) whose research focuses on the intersection of machine learning and cosmology. He investigates how state-of-the-art AI methods can be leveraged to accelerate and automate aspects of the scientific process. His work also includes incorporating high-fidelity models into current cosmological analyses for a variety of probes such as weak lensing, galaxy clustering, and cluster number counts. Central challenges addressed in his research include explainability of inference in this regard, as well as robustness to possible model misspecifications. Kai holds a Master’s degree from LMU Munich and is currently in the final year of his PhD at LMU Munich.
