Lachlan joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) as a Flatiron Research Fellow in 2025, coming from Columbia University, where he was a Junior Fellow in the Simons Society of Fellows. Lachlan’s work focuses on the complex gas dynamics and observable properties of star forming regions. In particular, Lachlan’s recent work has focused on developing analytical models for the dynamics of these regions and testing these models against three-dimensional radiation-magneto-hydrodynamical simulations. Before his term as a Simons Fellow, Lachlan earned his Ph.D. in astrophysics from Princeton University in 2022.
