Lawrence Edmond, IV

Graduate Student, University of California, Berkeley
Simons-NSBP Summer Program Scholar (2021) , Flatiron Institute

During his time as a Simons-National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) summer program scholar at CCA in 2021, Lawrence Edmond IV collaborated with Dr. Maria Okounkova to use the Spectral Einstein Code (SpEC) to create geodesic simulations near merging black holes.

A recent University of California, Berkeley, graduate with a degree in astronomy and astrophysics, Lawrence is now studying properties of the neutron star equation of state using gravitational waves with Drs. Carolyn Rathiel and Elias Most at Princeton University’s Gravity Initiative. In the fall of 2022, following his time at Princeton, Lawrence will begin pursuing a doctorate in physics at Brown University. He is a member of the NSBP, a McNair Scholars alumnus and a member of the Astronomy Scholars Program at UC Berkeley.
