Lekha Patel, Ph.D.

Mathematician and Computational Statistician, Sandia National Laboratories

Lekha Patel is a mathematician and computational statistician at Sandia National Laboratories whose research interests broadly lie in the fields of statistical computing, statistical learning of partially observed stochastic processes, stochastic PDEs for uncertainty quantification and Bayesian nonparametrics. Other areas of interest include spatial-temporal statistical modeling, extreme value analysis and Bayesian variable selection. Recently, she has developed an interest in physics-informed statistical learning for bridging spatial-temporal scales of physical phenomena. Applications of her work include in bioinformatics, cyber-security, climatology (especially within the atmospheric sciences) and the social sciences. Patel has a B.S. and Ph.D. in mathematics from Imperial College London.
