Leon Chan

Research Analyst, CCA, Flatiron InstituteLeon Chan’s website

Leon is a Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) Pre-Doctoral Fellow for the Fall 2025–2026 term and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado Boulder in the high-energy astrophysics group. He is also a recipient of the Croucher Scholarship for Doctoral Study. His research interests lie in high-energy astrophysics, with a focus on plasma physics, accretion dynamics, and radiative processes around black holes. Leon studies energetic black hole systems such as X-ray binaries, active galactic nuclei, tidal disruption events, gamma-ray bursts, and supermassive black hole binaries. To address these problems, he typically runs large-scale, state-of-the-art numerical simulations on high-performance computer clusters.
