Bio:  
Martin Rees is a cosmologist and astrophysicist. He holds the honorary title of Astronomer Royal. He has spent most of his career at Cambridge where he has been Director of the Institute of Astronomy and Master of Trinity College. He served as the President of the Royal Society from 2005 to 2010 and is a member of the House of Lords. He is a foreign member of the NAS and other academies, and is the winner of awards including the Crafoord Prize, the Balzan Prize, the Gruber Prize, the AAS Heinemann Prize and Russell Lectureship and the Bower Award of the Franklin Institute. He is a Trustee of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study and has served on many boards connected with space science and education. His research has covered galaxy and star formation, high energy process in the cosmos, black holes, and the concept of the ‘multiverse’. His books for general readership include ‘Before the Beginning’, ‘Gravity’s Fatal Attraction’, ‘Just Six Numbers’ and ‘From Here to Infinity’.
