Massimiliano Rota is a postdoc at the University of Amsterdam. As a member of It from Qubit, he was a postdoc at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics. He received his Ph.D. from Durham University under the supervision of Mukund Rangamani. His research focuses on quantum features like entanglement and nonlocality, the corresponding concepts in quantum field theory and the role they play in quantum gravity via the AdS/CFT correspondence. Motivated by questions in quantum gravity, he is also interested in aspects of quantum foundations like the measurement problem, the consistent histories formulation of quantum mechanics and the quantum-to-classical transition.
