Mike Lau

Ph.D. Candidate, Monash University
A portrait photo of Mike Lau.

Mike Lau is a Ph.D. student at Monash University who is interested in interactions in stellar binaries and multiples, the formation of gravitational wave progenitors, and common-envelope evolution. He works on understanding these problems using hydrodynamical simulations and population synthesis.

Mike visited the CCA as a Pre-Doctoral Fellow from February to June 2022, where he produced hydrodynamical simulations of planetary engulfment by their host stars and worked on understanding the observational signatures of these events.
