Sophie Beck, Ph.D.

Associate Research Scientist, CCQ, Flatiron Institute

Sophie Beck joined the Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ) as a research fellow in September 2020. She obtained her PhD in Materials Science from the ETH Zurich in Switzerland in 2020 and holds an M.S. in Physics from the University of Freiburg, Germany. During her PhD she studied metal-insulator transitions in complex oxide heterostructures using a combination of DFT and DMFT. Sophie’s research interests lie in the field of strongly correlated electron systems and the description of the resulting phenomena in quantum materials.
