Tom Wagg, Ph.D.

Flatiron Research Fellow, Stars and Plasma Astrophysics, CCA, Flatiron InstituteTom Wagg’s website

Tom Wagg joined the Center for Computational Astrophysics as a Flatiron Research Fellow in September 2025. Tom is fascinated by binary stars and their interactions, particularly how this shapes their place in the galaxy. He designs, runs and uses simulations to explore binary evolution and galactic dynamics, as well as the impact of binaries on other areas, including gravitational waves and galaxy evolution. He is also passionate about open-source software and enjoys writing tools for the whole community to use. Tom received his Ph.D. in 2025 from the University of Washington. Prior to his graduate studies, he earned an A.B. in physics and astrophysics at Harvard University.
