Elias Stein, a professor emeritus of mathematics at Princeton University, is a leading figure in the field of harmonic analysis. He is best known for his contributions to Calderón–Zygmund theory.

His honors include s the Steele Prize, the Schock Prize in Mathematics and the National Medal of Science. He has been awarded fellowships by several organizations, including the National Science Foundation, the National Academy of Sciences and, most recently in 2012, the American Mathematical Society.
