Adam C. Burnett, Ph.D.

New York University

Adam C. Burnett is a postdoctoral fellow working with Dr. Ed Gerber in the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. Burnett received his Ph.D. in earth system science at Stanford University under the mentorship of Dr. Aditi Sheshadri. He also holds a B.A. in physics from Dartmouth College.

Burnett is a climate scientist interested in large-scale atmospheric dynamics, tropical meteorology, and climate model improvement. In his doctoral research, he used idealized global climate model simulations to examine how hurricanes relate to large-scale climate. The results of this research, including a relationship between the global precipitation distribution and the frequency of hurricanes, help us understand the occurrence of hurricanes under climate change.
