Daniel Hochbaum, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical SchoolPrincipal Investigator, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Daniel Hochbaum is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and a principal investigator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He obtained his Ph.D. in applied physics from Harvard University under Adam Cohen. Afterwards, he was a junior fellow in the Harvard Society of Fellows, working with Bernardo Sabatini at Harvard Medical School.
Utilizing a bottom-up approach spanning molecules, synapses, circuits and behavior, Hochbaum’s research explores how the brain and body are coordinated in the face of ever changing environments and experiences, and how this coordination frays in the context of neurological and metabolic disease, and over the process of aging. His work has been recognized by various awards and honors, including a Harold Weintraub graduate student award, election to the Society of Fellows at Harvard University and a Career Award at the Scientific Interface from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
