Matei Coiculescu, Ph.D.

New York University

Matei Coiculescu is a postdoctoral fellow at the Courant Institute at New York University and works under the mentorship of Tristan Buckmaster. Coiculescu completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Princeton University under the supervision of Camillo De Lellis. Previously, he completed his Sc.B. in mathematics at Brown University.

Coiculescu’s current research interest is to investigate the regularity and uniqueness properties of solutions of the incompressible Navier-Stokes and Euler equations. During his doctoral studies, he worked on the partial regularity properties of solutions to the Navier-Stokes and related equations, and he has investigated the uniqueness properties of stationary solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. In addition, Coiculescu proved non-uniqueness of smooth solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations arising from singular data and the stability of the inviscid power-law vortex.
