Shirley M. Tilghman is a professor of molecular biology and public affairs at Princeton University. She previously served as president of Princeton. Her research focuses on mammalian developmental biology and science policy.
In 2002, Discover Magazine named Tilghman one of the 50 most important women in science. She is a member of the American Philosophical Society, a foreign associate of the National Academy of Sciences, a member of the Institute of Medicine, a fellow of the Royal Society, a founding member of the International Mammalian Genome Society and an honorary member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
