Michael Wolf is a professor of mathematics at Rice University and a Simons Fellow in Mathematics. Besides his many contributions to the study of Riemann surfaces, he created in 2012 the Rice Emerging Scholars Program, which is aimed at students of exceptional promise whose high school preparation might make the early college years particularly difficult. The program broadly addresses academic and nonacademic barriers to success for new students seeking a career in science or engineering.
