17 Gauss Way

Attracting mathematicians from around the world, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) is perched atop the Berkeley hills with commanding views of San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

17 Gauss Way tells the story of a building designed to be the home for this world-class center of learning and contemplation. Architect William Glass and former MSRI director David Eisenbud guide us through the history of the building and its recent expansion, exploring how architecture and design can be used to stimulate thinking, creativity and community.
